Airtel and Lava may Launch 4G Smartphone at Price of Rs 1,699 to fight JioPhone.
After partnering with Karbonn to launch A40 Indian 4G smartphone, Bharti Airtel is reportedly preparing to join hands with Lava to announce another 4G VoLTE device. There is no information on what will Lava or Airtel call the device, but then, all that is known is that the 4G smartphone will be launching very Soon.
- The Upcoming 4G Smartphone by the home grown smartphone manufacturer will not be very different from Karbonn's A40 Indian, apart from some specs differences and also the price. The report comes from 91 Mobiles which states that the upcoming Airtel - Lava phone will also come with bundled data and voice benefits just like Karbonn A40 Indian. The Lava phone will come with an effective price of Rs 1,699. On the other hand, the Airtel - Karbonn A40 Indian which is launched very recently to counter JioPhone, comes at an effective price of Rs 1,399.
The strategy for Lava phone will be much like the Karbonn A40 Indian. Buyers will first have to get the phone at Rs 3,500 but then the company will offer a cashback of Rs 1,801. This means that the Lava phone will actually be available at Rs 1,699. However, it is still not clear on how Lava is really planning to refund Rs 1,801 to the buyers. It will possibly be similar to how Karbonn will be refunding the money. Chances are Lava will also offer cashbacks from time to time after a certain time period.
The Airtel - Lava 4G VoLTE smartphone will be an Android-powered and will come with a bundled data and voice offer which the users will have to take up every month.
As said, the Lava device will be much like the Karbonn A40 India, at least in terms of specifications. Going by the speculations, the Airtel - Lava phone will either come with a 4.5-inch or 5-inch display. There are no further details available about the Lava phone as of yet. The 91 Mobiles report further notes that the Airtel is also gearing up to join hands with another home grown smartphone manufacturer to announce another 4G smartphone at a price tag between Rs 1,399 and Rs 1,699. This means, that the third partnership phone by Airtel will bridge the gap between Karbonn A40 Indian and the upcoming Lava phone. There are no specific details available on the same as of yet, however some reports earlier revealed that Airtel in working with Intex to announce a 4G smartphone very soon.
Karbonn A40 Indian:
- Taking a look at the Karbonn A40 Indian, the phone comes with with a 4-inch display, a 1.3 Ghz processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage which is expandable by up to 32GB via micro-SD card. The 4G phone also comes with dual SIm support and runs on Android Nougat software. Karbonn A40 Indian is backed by a 1,400mAh battery and comes with a 2-megapixel camera on the rear and a 0.3-megapixel camera on the front.
- Coming back to Karbonn A40 Indian, the 4G smartphone comes at an effective price tag of Rs 1,399. This was launched to counter Jio's JioPhone which comes in at an effective price tag of Rs 'zero'. Customers will actually have to pay Rs 2,899, while buying the phone, but Karbonn will refund back Rs 1,500. The customer - who buys the A40 Indian will be eligible for the refund only if they make 36 continuous monthly recharges of Rs 169 every month. Doing so, the customer will get a cash refund of Rs 500 after 18 months and another Rs 1,000 in the next 18 months (i.e after 36 months from the purchase date).
